Black Pepper (Piper nigrum)

Safe for:

InternalOral Children

DESCRIPTION:

Black pepper has a spicy, warm, and peppery aroma reminiscent of ground peppercorns, however, the aroma is not irritating to the eyes and does not cause you to sneeze upon inhalation.  It has been distilled from the dried, whole, unripe fruit called peppercorns.  The outer covering of the peppercorn is not removed, thus differentiating black pepper from white pepper; the two peppers have very different medicinal uses.  This product is available in a 15 mL amber glass Euro bottle.

All Wellness Warrior essential oils are organic.

COMMON USES:

Black pepper is a great choice for the digestive and nervous systems.  Black pepper is used to increase alertness and stamina.  It can be added to herbs and other essential oils to increase the intensity of the active properties of the original mixture.  When added to turmeric, for example, the turmeric is 2000% more bio-available in the body.  Use topically for nerve pain and scabies.  Black pepper is also used for upset stomach, bronchitis, and as a counter-irritant for pain.  Using black pepper aromatically can help with tobacco smoking (cravings and addictions).

PROPERTIES:

Analgesic, anticatarrhal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, aphrodisiac, expectorant, laxative, and stimulant.

HOW TO USE:

Aromatic – Add 3-4 drops of oil to distilled water and diffuse; inhale directly by cupping your hands around an open bottle and breath in deeply through your nose.

Topical – Directly apply 1-3 drops of oil to the area of concern or to reflex points (dilute using a carrier oil for people with sensitive skin).

Internal – Can be used as a flavoring in cooking.  Use 1 drop as this is a strong oil.

Oral – Using your finger, apply oil directly to the area of concern in the mouth.

Children – Safe for children with proper dilution.

CAUTION:

For people with sensitive skin, Wellness Warrior suggests diluting essential oils with a vegetable-based carrier oil, such as raw coconut or jojoba oil.

Black pepper is safe to take while pregnant and nursing in normal doses, but do not take in large doses as the effect on the fetus is not known (for large doses).
