Lemongrass, Cymbopogon citratus

Lemongrass is a wonderful herb that has many amazing uses for making foods taste better by adding a touch of sweetness to warding off pesky insects.  The herb is used to add flavor to Thai dishes and as a medicine, it is a mild astringent which is useful when dealing with stomach issues, such as stomachache and digestive tract spasms.  It is a handy herb to have around the kitchen as well as a medicinal tincture and essential oil.

This product is available as an essential oil, medicinal tincture, and dry herb.

As an essential oil, this product is available in a 15 mL amber glass Euro bottle.  The medicinal tincture is bottled in a 2 oz glass Boston round dropper bottle.

All Wellness Warrior products are organic.

Commonly used to address spasms of the digestive tract, including abdominal pain and stomachache, achy joints (rheumatism), cough, convulsions, common cold, exhaustion, fever, headache, high blood pressure, muscle pain, and vomiting.  Need to get rid of germs? Lemongrass is excellent for that as well as it's commonly used in household cleaning, as a disinfectant, and to deep clean carpets.

When camping in cold climates, lemongrass can be applied topically to the bottoms of the feet to increase circulation in the morning and warm the feet.  Speaking of outdoors, did you know lemongrass is the main ingredient in our propriety blend, Bug Off! because it is such a wonderful insect repellent.

Lemongrass also prevents the growth of some bacteria and yeast, can stimulate the uterus and menstrual flow, which makes this a wonderful herb and essential oil to use to assist with menstrual regulation and overall women's health.

Analgesic, anticonvulsant, antiseptic, digestive, insect repellent, rheumatic, stomachic.

Aromatic – Add 3-4 drops of essential oil to distilled water and diffuse for pain and headaches; inhale directly by cupping your hands around an open bottle and breathe in deeply through your nose.

Topical – Directly apply 1-3 drops of essential oil to the area of concern, on the temples for headaches, or reflex points (this oil can cause skin irritation and should always be diluted when applying topically).

Internal – Place 1 drop of the essential oil in food after cooking as a flavoring agent, or use 2 Tbsp of the dry herb.  Lemongrass tea can be made by adding 1 drop of the essential oil or 2 tsp of dry her to a hot glass of water and steeping, covered, for 5 minutes.

Children – Safe for children over the age of six with proper dilution.  Please refer to our Wellness Warrior Essential Oil Dosing Guide.

For people with sensitive skin, Wellness Warrior suggests diluting essential oils with a vegetable-based carrier oil, such as raw coconut or jojoba oil.  As with all oils, we recommend using essential oils with caution in children under the age of six and by pregnant women.
